About the event
The ensemble's long history spans over seventy years. In 1946, the violinist Dušan Pandula founded the Hába Quartet in Prague. In 1968, after Dušan Pandula moved to West Germany, the quartet disbanded, but was re-founded sixteen years later in 1984 in Frankfurt by him, this time with his student Peter Zelienka. The quartet sees itself as the direct successor and bearer of the long-standing Hába Quartet tradition.
The ensemble is characterized by a repertoire that encompasses all stylistic periods and also includes rarely performed works. This versatility has been demonstrated in intensive concert activity at home and abroad, in CD and radio recordings and in appearances at important festivals. The musicians of the quartet are also members of the hr Symphony Orchestra.
